FillStationPro-II™ Repair

Are you experiencing CO2 Gas leaks around the Fill Valve area or is the Fill Valve becoming increasingly difficult to turn ON/OFF?  Chances are that the o-ring seals in the Fill Valve either need cleaning/lubrication or replacement.  Your FillStationPro-II™ comes with a CGA-320 Tank Seal Washer and a Spare O-Ring rebuild kit (effective 7/8/2010).  On our Parts Ordering Page we offer the replacement seals in case you need them.

CO2 Gas is very rough on seals due to it's freezing temperatures, so maintenance is occasionally needed.  By following these simple instructions you will be able to repair/replace the internal ON/OFF Valve O-Ring Seals on your FillStationPro-II™. Following these instructions will result in a safe and effective product repair, so please follow each step as carefully detailed in these photos and instructions.

MAINTENANCE NOTE: CO2 is very harsh on all seals and o-rings.   Please maintain these by applying a thin film of oil on all seal and o-ring surfaces.  You can use regular cooking oil or the we offer on our Ordering Page.  O-Ring or Seal wear and tear or drying is NOT covered as a warranty item since they are considered normal wear items.

First, a list of what you will need for the installation and filling of your CO2 Bottles:

FillStationPro-II™ that needs repair.
FillStationPro-II™ O-Ring rebuild kit.
Adjustable Wrench.
Safety Goggles (ALWAYS USE)
Small Steel Punch (for removing lock-pin).
Small wood Block with a 1/4" hole drilled into it at least 3/4" deep.
Cooking Oil or Food-Grade Lubricant
Small Blade
Small brush or old toothbrush.
Small bowl with hot soapy water.

WARNING

TURN OFF SUPPLY TANK GAS AND RELIEVE ANY RESIDUAL GAS PRESSURE IN THE LINE BEFORE REMOVING YOUR FILL STATION FOR ANY REPAIRS OR REPLACEMENT.  FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN SERIOUS BODILY INJURY OR EQUIPMENT DAMAGE!

WARNING

ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION!

REMOVING THE FillStationPro-II™

After you have turned OFF the supply gas and relieved all line pressure by turning the Fill Valve ON.  After all line pressure has been vented, use the adjustable wrench to unscrew-screw the large brass nut from the CO2 Donor Tank.  Be sure to save the CO2 Tank Washer for re-installation after repairs.  Remove any Carbonator tanks attached to the Fill Head, leaving only a plain unattached FillStationPro-II™.  Place FillStationPro-II™ on your table or place you will be performing the repairs or maintenance.

REMOVING FILL VALVE LOCK PIN

Place the FillStationPro-II™ on the block of wood with the 1/4" hole by laying the Fill Station on it's back (flat side without vent muffler), carefully placing the hole where the lock pin will exit over the 1/4" hole in the bock of wood.   This will allow the lock pin to exit freely.

With the small punch, hammer out the lock pin as far as necessary so the Fill Valve can be completely unscrewed and removed.  TIP: DO NOT completely remove lock pin, punch it out only as far as necessary so it is easier to re-assemble.

REPLACING SEALS

If upon inspection of the Fill Valve (third picture) the seals look OK, then skip this step by just cleaning the Valve, re-lubricating it, and then re-assembling the FillStationPro-II™.

To replace the seals, using a razor blade, carefully cut the old o-rings on the Valve without scarring the Valve's metal surface.  After o-rings are removed, using a brush and hot soapy water, scrub down the entire Valve and dry thoroughly.

Place a small amount of Cooking Oil or Food Grade lubricant on the Valve threads and o-ring grooves, then roll/slide the replacement o-rings onto the Valve and replacing them in the exact areas of the old ones.  Re-apply lubricant as needed.  DO NOT use WD-40 or other NON FOOD GRADE lubricant!  We sell a NON-Toxic quality Lubricant on our Ordering Page.

REASSEMBLY

Before reassembling, blow out with air the inside cavity of the Fill Valve on the FillStationPro-II™ and remove any dirt/debris that may be causing the problems for you.  Reassemble the FillStationPro-II™ by reversing the above procedure and tapping the Lock Pin back into place.

Reinstall FillStationPro-II™ on to your CO2 Donor Tank using the standard FillStationPro-II™ Installation Instructions.
